Whilst
a script has been completed, the film has been delayed indefinitely and will
not likely start production until the end of the show's run.
The
movie will be set in Afghanistan, London and Washington, D.C.
The
character of Audrey will play an integral part in the film and they are keeping
her alive in Season 6 (and possibly further Seasons) in order to have her be part of the film. Chloe will also
feature in the movie.
Jon
Cassar is in top position to direct and most of the crew from the show will work
on the film.
The
movie will follow along the continuum of Jack's life but won't be tied to the
TV show narratively.
The
movie will be shot in Europe. The shoot will take place in London and Prague.
Then Morocco will be used as a location - probably as an aspect of the Middle
East.
Three
segments of real time will cover a 24-hour period. These are likely to take
place in three different parts of the world.
The movie will
be written during the Season 5 and Season 6 hiatus and will
start production during the Season 6 and Season 7 hiatus with a target release of Summer 2008.
Kiefer Sutherland will not shoot other films during the two hiatus to focus his
attention entirely on the movie. (UPDATE) A script was written in the aforementioned
hiatus and Sutherland took time off other projects to focus his attention on
the show, however a movie was ultimately delayed and will not likely be shot
between Season 6 and Season 7.
The movie will bridge the gap between
the Season following and preceding production.
The character Kiefer Sutherland will portray
will have no connections to any other characters, effectively starting again.
The movie series will have its own cannon and will comfortably co-exist with
the TV series.
The
movie will be Jack Bauer international and the storyline will be something the TV
show can't do.
The
first film will be set before season one, and with the rumors of Kiefer
handing the leading role reigns in the TV version over to another cast member,
it may have something to say about the way he exits the show.
Kiefer
has inked a deal to star in three 24 movies for FOX. Kiefer has
mentioned on several occasions that it could be a wonderful series of
movies.
Bruce Willis has shown interest to cameo in
one of the films. Kiefer has been quoted as describing the movie a Die
Hard-like spectacle.
The
first hour of the movie will not occur in real time, then something major will
happen and the clock will start ticking.
